The game features the "loot boxes" system which work like this if you play the match well then you'll be rewarded with a loot box or you can buy them with coins from the game that can be acquired with real world dollars and those coins can help you to unlock more champions like B.J Blazkowics to play, you can still unlock them with other coins (which i forgot it's name) but you can acquire those by winning matches or had the best number of kills.
